Dedicated to God

One of my favorite rites of passage at Wilshire Baptist Church, is baby dedications. It is when the pastor carefully walks the child up and down the aisle while he talks about how the church will nurture and love the child into the Christian faith. Then as he hands the child back to their beaming parents, he says something along the lines of " This child does not belong to you...she came from God (even though it took her some time to get here) and she will go back to God...and you are to be stewards of her life, helping her to grow in the practices of the church." It's always a tear jerker. This one was particularly so, as I know how much this particular set of parents wanted to stand before that church to have that moment play out just so...

(The rest of the pictures where taken at a wonderful picnic at the arboretum)

Tribute to Mom

I wish the whole world could know the Love of my mother...what a wonderful place this would be...
The way her eyes sparkle when she looks at you, her wet extravagant kisses, the voice of Paula Dean, the warm embrace of home, she is giving and unconditional, free spirited and wise. Her heart beats in sync with her children...she feels as they feel. She will sing your praises and tell you how gifted you are and how lucky she is...yet we are the lucky ones. If she only knew how she is the very presence of Christ to us in her Love and Nurture, in her Listening and Understanding, in the display of her sheer unconditional delight in us.
I wish the whole world could know the Love of my mother (a very real presence of Christ in my life)...what a wonderful place this could be.

Cool Cats

Today was a totally new experience for me. Instead of chasing around kiddos, I got to hang out with one of my favorite jazz bands. They thought it would be good to have some pics for their upcoming events. I thought I would post some of my favs. Thanks guys, it was quite an adventure!
