Little Ones

In many ways, here is where it all began. My sister gave birth to their first child and to say the least the doctor had to ask me to stop taking pictures. I wanted her to have every moment, every expression. Then her daughter started to grow and change, and I still want her to have every moment...except I am too far away :( Through all of that though emerged my love of capturing those fleating priceless moments on film (or in a digital file :). I bought my first DSLR camera and thus began my journey as a budding photographer. If I ever get too overwhlemed or insecure with all there is to learn and how much room I still have to grow, I look back at those first pictures of my sister's daughter and think, we'll never get that moment back, so I sure am glad we captured it somehow.
Some of the other adorable children featured include my brother and his son, and some friends from church and their children. I have to give a big thanks to Kimberly Kyle Photography for helping me learn and thing or two about editing and showing me how it's done!

Weddings!

I'll never say never, but oh my goodness I think it would be very difficult to be "the" photographer at weddings. I was able to attend these weddings as a bridesmaid, friend and relative and it was amazing to capture these moments by chance, but I think it would be a ton of pressure! What I love about wedding photographs (aside from the beautiful dresses and the colorful flowers)...is the raw emotion. Whether it be anticipation, relief, joy, the sorrow of letting go, loyalty, adoration, ahhh..it's all there.

Their Journey

This is such an amazing couple. They were obviously so excited about becoming parents. Their journey hasn't always been an easy one, and I know they enjoyed every moment of this pregnancy. The last picture is in the same archway at the Arboretum that her bridal portraits were taken. Now they are loving those sleepness nights gazing at their adorable little girl.

Blogging...I guess it's what we (budding photographers) do.

I can't believe what started out as a hobby to capture those priceless moments with my newborn niece and nephew ( a year ago), has blossomed into the insatiable passion to learn and grow in all things photography. I am in the process of building my body of work, and I look forward to looking back over this coming year, just as I did last year, and be filled with gratitude for what I have learned through those moments captured on film. I thought since I just started this I would pick out some of my favorites over the last year, in three categories: maternity, weddings and infant/children.
This post (and probably one more) will be the maternity shoots I have done this past year. One of which was of a dear friend from our neighborhood and church. It's so neat as I look back on those pictures, because that precious child is now "out in the world". I wanted to post these first as this friend has been so helpful in teaching me all that she knows as a photographer, and she helped design "my logo" .
